| Customer Reviews: Great Beer - Easy to Make August 21, 2010 JW (Greensboro, NC) After ordering - the two beer kits arrived fast and in good condition.
Note: the few changes I made:
1) I do not own a Mr. Beer fermenter, etc - so I used my regular 6 gallon Northern Brewer fermenting bucket and made a double batch.
2) I added a couple tablespoons of brown sugar to the double batch I made.
3) I let the wort stay in the ferment bucket for two weeks.
4) I did not drink any of it until one week after it had been bottled.
My review - The brew was very smooth - tasted great - and no aftertaste. Also, making beer using the Mr. Beer beer kits was far easier than any other kits I personally have used to this date.
Purchasing the Mr. Beer Octoberfest beer kits was money well spent!
Great German Beer November 27, 2009 http://www.rescued-dogs-free-to-lifetime-home.page.tl/ (Memphis, TN) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was born and raised in Germany and this is an excellent German Beer. Add a tbs brown sugar in the keg, let it stand one week longer and you will have an excellent german beer.
Compares to Germany's Best Beer October 5, 2009 Mississippi Muddy River (Ocean Springs, MS United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am absolutely shocked that this beer is so good. I have not been able to find a beer like this since 1975 at a little gasthaus on top of a hill outside Frankfurt, Germany. Everyone that tried it agreed that it was an amazing beer. Ridiculously amazing beer, let it age an extra week and it is even better!!! Don't go through all of the complicated steps others suggest, just follow the instructions, give it an extra week and you to will be amazed at the quality and flavor of this beer...we added a 1/2 cup of sugar in the ferminter in one batch for extra alcohol and well...watch out, it had quite a kick!
Good Kit Beer March 20, 2009 D. Needham 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Makes a medium dark beer. It's not a true lager, because the yeast cultures at a higher temp, but it certainly makes a good beer. Small note: I "proofed" the yeast separately in some warm water in the can with leftover mix; ALL the water in a large pot with the mix, brought up to temp, stirred well and then left the wort to cool to ~100 degrees Fahrenheit before pouring into the brew keg and pitching the yeast. It was ready to bottle condition eight days later. Note: I've gotten consistently better bottle conditioning when using my "collection" of Grolsch swingtop bottles. Recommended. (Besides, they bottle 16oz instead of 12... :-))
